Le Mur des Je t'aime
'I love you' in 250 languages, on one blue wall

In a small pocket park behind Place des Abbesses, calligrapher Fédéric Baron and artist Claire Kito arranged 612 enamelled lava tiles into a single, quiet declaration: 'I love you', written 311 times in 250 languages.
A little history
Unveiled on Valentine's Day 2000, the wall was designed as an antidote to a scattered, hurried city — a place where lovers could find their own language and read it back. The scattered red fragments across the wall represent a broken heart being made whole.
Visitor tips
Best light for photos is late morning, when the trees frame it in green.
It is smaller than most people expect — allow ten minutes rather than an hour.
Pair it with a coffee at one of the cafés on Place des Abbesses.
The metro entrance next door is one of only two original Guimard glass canopies left in Paris.
